Description

February 2022 - The ongoing crisis in Syria continues to be a driver of displacement and humanitarian needs throughout the country. Over eleven years into the conflict, an estimated 14 million people remain in need of urgent humanitarian assistance inside of Syria. Over six million are displaced in neighbouring countries. Years of active conflict and displacement have exacerbated protection risks and increased vulnerability for millions. Humanitarian access to those most in need remains a significant challenge. With GAC's support, this project provides health and protection services to up to 66,565 beneficiaries in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. Project activities include: (1) awareness raising of sexual and gender-based violence; (2) providing safe spaces for women and girls; and (3) delivering sexual and reproductive health and rights services to women and girls.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved protection from and treatment of sexual and gender-based violence; and (2) improved access to sexual and reproductive health and rights services including mental health services. The expected ultimate outcome is lives saved, suffering alleviated and human dignity maintained in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or acute food insecurity.
