Description 

This project seeks to increase the capacity of Kazakhstan to detect and deter the smuggling of nuclear or radiological materials. Specifically, it supports Kazakhstan’s Border Guard Service with securing two sites at the Kazakh-Russia border, and two sites along the border with Uzbekistan. Project activities include: (1) providing radiation detection, communication, patrol and surveillance equipment to Kazakhstan’s Border Guard Service; and (2) providing related operational and maintenance training on the equipment.

Expected results 

The expected outcome for this project includes improved detection and response to nuclear or radiological security incidents by Kazakhstan’s Border Guard Service at four key border sites.
