Project profile — Civic engagement fund - Bangladesh

This multi-donor Civic Engagement Fund in Bangladesh aims to strengthen the effectiveness of development policies and programs by empowering civil society organizations through capacity-building and financial support. It seeks to strengthen up to 60 civil society organizations, including grassroots non-government organizations, human rights defenders, think tanks, and media. It seeks to amplify the voices of underrepresented groups including women, youth, and marginalized communities. Stronger civil society organizations is better able to advocate with government and demand accountability. Project activities include: (1) enhancing civic mobilization and engagement of civil society organizations; (2) strengthening collaboration and networking among and within civil society organizations; (3) increasing cooperation, interaction, and policy dialogue between civil society organizations and the Government of Bangladesh; and (4) increasing capacity and knowledge of civil society organizations in advocacy, negotiation, and management.

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) enhanced civic mobilization and engagement of civil society organizations in Bangladesh; (2) strengthened collaboration and networking among civil society organizations in Bangladesh; (3) increased cooperation, interaction, and policy dialogue between civil society organizations and the Government of Bangladesh; and (4) increased capacity and knowledge of civil society organisations in advocacy, negotiation, and management in Bangladesh.
