Description

This project aims to enhance climate resilience and food security of vulnerable indigenous and rural populations - focusing on women, girls and youth - in the Colombian Amazonian region. Project activities include: (1) using nature-based solutions and climate information services integrating traditional knowledge and practices to empower local communities to adapt effectively to climate variability and extreme weather; (2) fostering sustainable agricultural practices and food systems, aiming to enhance the communities' ability to achieve long-term resilience; and (3) strengthening the leadership of women to participate in climate governance and decision-making spaces.

Expected results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) strengthened climate resilience of vulnerable rural and indigenous communities through enhanced climate adaptation measures, including nature-based solutions, valorization of traditional knowledge, and tailored climate information services; (2) enhanced adoption of gender-responsive, climate-smart, and nature-positive agri-food value chains in targeted communities to increase food security; and (3) strengthened leadership and active participation on climate governance of rural and Indigenous women.
