Description

This project aims to improve access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services for women and girls in the Philippines. Project activities include: (1) improving the availability and use of comprehensive SRH services in non-profit, community-based clinics; (2) training community health volunteers and teachers to deliver SRH and comprehensive sexual education information in communities and schools; and (3) strengthening women’s rights and community-based organizations and networks to advocate for policies related to SRH financing and comprehensive sexual education at the national and local levels. This project benefits approximately 100,000 individuals, particularly women, girls, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex plus individuals living in disaster-prone and urban-poor communities.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased use of SRH services by marginalized women and girls in the poorest and disaster-prone communities in the Philippines. These services include family planning, Sexually transmitted infection or Human immunodeficiency virus diagnosis and treatment, post-abortion counselling, and pre-and-post natal care; (2) enhanced healthy behaviours supporting women’s and adolescents’ empowerment on their sexual and reproductive health and rights, particularly those in the poorest and disaster-prone communities in the Philippines; and (3) increased effectiveness of women’s rights and community organizations and networks.
