Description 

This project aims to improve women’s health by increasing the uptake of cervical cancer screening in Paramaribo, Suriname. It seeks to address the misconceptions that prevent women from undergoing regular screening and provides cervical cancer screening in underserved areas. Project activities include: (1) coordinating focus groups to identify barriers that prevent Surinamese women from accessing available cervical cancer prevention services; (2) developing a health promotion campaign to increase awareness and acceptability of cervical cancer prevention; and (3) organizing cervical cancer screening clinics.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved health promotion education for preventing cervical cancer in Suriname; and (2) increased utilization of cervical cancer prevention services in Paramaribo, Suriname.
