Description

This project aims to strengthen international mobilization for the Sahel to improve the quality of life for women, men, girls, and boys in the region. By funding the Sahel Coalition, Canada supports a dialogue interface and a platform for reflection and information sharing about the region. The project’s activities include the following: (1) organizing high-level political meetings to facilitate the sharing of viewpoints, identifying priorities, and making common commitments among partners; (2) conducting regional tours in the Sahel and West Africa to promote the protection of civilians, fight against impunity, and to formulate a response to the security crisis that respects human rights and humanitarian principles; (3) carrying out continuous bilateral consultations with other Coalition partners and multilateral organizations to gather viewpoints, influence policies, and produce joint analyses; and (4) organizing thematic events that bring together experts, researchers and policymakers to develop operational recommendations.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) improved coordination among the senior authorities of the Sahel countries and their partners, including multilateral organizations; and (2) amplified voices of beneficiaries, particularly women and youth, in exchange forums.
