Description 

This project aims to improve Jordan’s security and regional stability by increasing Jordanian capacity to prevent and respond to threats along its border with Syria. Canada supports constructing and repairing Jordan’s northern border road. This infrastructure improvement seeks to enhance the Jordan armed forces (JAF’s) operational effectiveness when responding to border incursions and smuggling activities along priority sections of the border with Syria. Project activities include: (1) constructing or repairing roads along the northern border; and (2) conducting an impact assessment of prior border infrastructural capacity development activities.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes of this project includes: enhanced JAF’s operational effectiveness to respond to transnational organized crime, including terrorism at the Jordanian-Syrian border.
