OCHA's primary mandate is to coordinate international humanitarian responses in partnership with national and international actors to achieve more coherent and effective humanitarian action. Project activities include: (1) coordinating the global emergency response; (2) raising awareness of forgotten crises, promoting respect for international humanitarian law, bringing the voices of affected people to the forefront and helping people access assistance; (3) mobilizing and engaging the full range of financing instruments, mechanisms and partners to meet growing needs; (4) developing policy to improve humanitarian action and decision-making; and (5) providing information management services to the humanitarian community to inform rapid, effective and principled responses.

Expected results

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased timely and appropriate response to humanitarian crises by the international humanitarian community; and (2) reduced vulnerability of crisis-affected people, especially women and children.
