Description 

This project aims to enhance participation in inclusive governance, in particular by women and girls in Mali, the DRC, Somali Diaspora in Kenya, Kenya, South Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iraq, Syrian Diaspora in Turkey, and the Philippines. Project activities include: (1) training journalists and content-creators on inclusive governance principles, countering gendered- information manipulation, gender-transformative reporting, and on digital, physical, and psycho-social security strategies; (2) training journalists and content-creators on content monetization strategies, grant writing, digitalization, and revenue diversification; (3) training local grassroots women rights movements, CSOs, CBOs and activists on media relations, digital and media campaigns, communication planning, and digital, physical, and psycho-social security strategies; (4) training civil servants, government officials, and political aspirants trained on gender-sensitive communication strategies, and GBA+ analysis in data collection, policy-formulation, budgeting and service delivery; and (5) organizing thematic roundtable discussions between media, government officials, and women’s rights CSOs and CBOs on gender equality, women representation and civic engagement.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) strengthened media content centering women and girls' voices and perspectives on public conversations about gender barriers; (2) strengthened effectiveness of local grassroots women rights movements, CSOs, CBOs and activists to work with media to carry-out gender-responsive civic education campaigns; and (3) enhanced national and sub-national governments’ gender responsiveness to media and CSOs content on inclusive governance principles and practices.
