Results achieved

Results achieved as of the end of the project (June 2015) include: (1) 85% of developing country partners (13 of 15) have increased skills and knowledge within their organization through training (in accounting, office and project management) and the work of volunteers on issues such as gender based violence, composting, recycling, basic sanitation and hygiene, and HIV-AIDS; (2) 80% of developing country partners (12 of 15) have increased skills and knowledge about how to integrate gender equality into their programming through the recruitment and increasing involvement of women in decision-making processes, providing tools and training to all staff on applying a gender lens to their work, and developing and/or adapting tools related to gender equality; and (3) 73% of volunteers (2,854 of 3,910) have improved awareness and understanding of development issues through their preparation for and participation in local development projects focussed on health, environment and gender equality. These results have contributed to improving capacity and performance of developing country partners to deliver programming and promote gender equality, as well as increased Canadian engagement and support to international development issues and programs.
