Description

The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) aims to promote public awareness of international development issues. Through this program, ACIC fosters increased participation by Maritimers (civil society organizations, government, private sector, institutions and citizens) in creating a more just and sustainable world for all. Through its public engagement activities, ACIC maintains its leadership role in the province in the areas of raising awareness, enabling change and encouraging action on international development issues.

Results achieved

Results achieved as of the end of the project (May 2014) include: (1) 1,042,549 Canadians were reached by communication and outreach activities of all of the Canadian Regional and Provincial Councils; and (2) 277 workshops and training sessions and 134 peer learning activities were held. These have contributed to: (1) improving the level of awareness, understanding and mobilization of a broad spectrum of Canadians on international development and global issues; and (2) increasing the effectiveness of the Regional and Provincial Councils and their members in working individually or collaboratively towards development effectiveness. This Council is one of seven Councils that make up the Inter-Council Network (ICN). All seven Councils are funded through the same envelope and do similar work in their respective provinces.
