Description

The CanGIVE project supports UNICEF in increasing equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines by enhancing vaccine delivery and uptake among high-priority groups and integrating COVID-19 vaccination into routine health services. It also seeks to strengthen health systems and improve gender-sensitive water, sanitation and hygiene systems in 11 countries (Bangladesh, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal and Tanzania), including humanitarian activities in Bangladesh, Mozambique and Nigeria. Project activities include: (1) supporting immunization planning, monitoring and data systems; (2) providing waste management, cold chain and logistics support for vaccination; and (3) supporting quality essential gender-responsive Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and infection prevention and control.

Expected results

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased equitable distribution and delivery of COVID-19 vaccines and strengthened gender-sensitive routine immunization in 11 countries; and (2) strengthened health systems to engage vulnerable and priority populations with gender-equitable COVID-19 vaccination and prevention outreach in 11 countries.
