Description 

HIV/AIDS Response Fund aims to contribute to the reduction of HIV/AIDS incidence and prevalence, and its impact on men, women, boys and girls in South Africa as articulated in the Government of South Africa's HIV/AIDS/STI Strategic Plan 2007-2011. Its purpose is to provide targeted support to South African civil society organizations to address HIV/AIDS in a gender responsive manner based on human rights principles and in line with the HIV/AIDS/STI Strategic Plan for South Africa 2007-2011.

Results achieved 

Results achieved as of March 2012 include: The HIV/AIDS Response Fund is providing funding to civil society organisations for 22 projects that are in the midst of implementation. Many of the organizations were able to increase their capacity in a variety of areas due to support received from the Fund. Civil society organizations implementing these sub-projects have strengthened capacities in project management, increased ability to facilitate access to gender responsive HIV/AIDS services, increased awareness of the importance of working collaboratively among themselves and with government in addressing the challenges of HIV/AIDS.
