Description 

This project aims to support the engagement of civil society in community peacebuilding in Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces. Project activities include: (1) strengthening community-based approaches for social cohesion, resilience and peacebuilding in targeted communities; (2) identifying and training local government officials and community members, particularly women, girls and internally displaced persons, on how to mitigate and prevent conflicts from escalating; and (3) providing human rights education to local stakeholders and empowering under-represented voices to promote the establishment of local peace committees and early warning and response mechanisms.

Expected results 

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased confidence of women and men members of the community and internally displaced persons to participate in formal and informal conflict prevention and resolution efforts; and (2) increased local governments’ responsiveness to community initiatives for conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
